On Monday, May 14th, 2012, Foundation 2 board members and staff came together to celebrate shared accomplishments during our fiscal year 2012 which runs from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.  During this time we shared examples of how Foundation 2 has impacted the lives of those in crisis in our community.  Examples of these stories will be highlighted in blog entries over the coming months.  Foundation 2 staff also compiled the following list of agency accomplishments over the past year.  Thanks for being a part of our success!

                        2011-2012 Year in Review

  • LaSheila Yates and Erik Albinson joined the Board of Directors
  • Awarded federal funding for JFAST, from the Bureau of Justice Assistance
  • Crisis calls reached all time high of number of incoming calls of 1,857 in March 2012
  • JFAST is now able to reimburse some crisis contacts through Magellan
  • Crisis Center installing new heating and cooling with CDBG funds
  • Added 5th TLP apartment near Kirkwood Community College
  • Death of beloved colleague, Crisis Counselor, Steve Ochiltree
  • Joined Iowa Youth Foster Care Youth Councils to facilitate the Cedar Rapids AMP program
  • F2 leads Iowa Youth Dream Team meetings for Linn Co. youth with Partnership for Safe Families
  • “Friends of F2” participated in the Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness Walk with Elizabeth Ray as speaker
  • F2 held the first Christmas Vendor Fair Fundraiser in December
  • New trees planted at Shelter through the Trees Forever/Alliant grant and volunteer help from Lions Club
  • Youth shelter invested in a different model of safety and violence prevention focused on understanding client needs and using verbal de-escalation methods- two staff are now certified trainers
  • Crisis Center basement steps repaired by volunteer Carlton Goodwin
  • Video created to promote F2 by volunteer David Wilcox- video was featured in agency mailing and on website
  • LISW Therapist Dennis Dozier was selected to participate in the DSM 5 Field Trials and completed the Psychological Autopsy Certification Training Program offered by AAS
  • Junior League selected Foundation 2’s ILP to collaborate, supporting youth aging out of foster care
  • Crisis Center participates in national research project, Helping Callers at Imminent Risk
  • Staff Wellness, Activities and Morale (WAM) Committee agency picnic in September
  • TLP handbook was revised, allowing for more flexibility in how young adults are supported by the services
  • Water heater tank explosion and vehicle drives into building at Admin
  • F2’s staff raised funds for the Sleep Out for the Homeless
  • Suicide Survivors Group served a record 67 different individuals
  • Crisis Center front door repair and added security with Alliant Energy funds
  • TLP ads featured on city busses and digital billboards
  • Taco Johns East 2nd Annual holiday fundraiser for Foundation 2
  • Added overnight supervisor at Shelter, and shifted supervisor role at Crisis Center to evening hours
  • F2 staff participated in United Way campaign
  • Participated as fundraiser and recipient in first annual Corridor Goes Casual for Kids
  • F2 staff and board raised funds for the Variety Club Telethon through a silent auction and telethon participation
  • Board President, Elizabeth Ray guest column in Cedar Rapids Gazette, in response to funding cuts for MCO program
  • Foundation 2 leads Linn County Suicide Coalition re-ignition
  • 2nd Annual Suicide Survivors Memorial Event and 13th Annual International Suicide Survivors Conference
  • F2 was highlighted in the November Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation Flood Report
  • Mobile Crisis Outreach was featured in local media interview
  • After Hours Food Pantry nominated volunteer Jenna Silver for her award from Leaders in Volunteerism
  • F2 staff, board members and youth clients partnered with Knights of Columbus for a successful Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
  • Suicide prevention and survivor resources featured on “To the Point” interview with Beth Malicki and F 2 staff Deb Peddycoart and Elisabeth Kissling
  • Board members Elizabeth Ray and Ben Fiedler presented at agency annual workshop
