We are feeling so inspired, overwhelmed and completely full of joy after our Hope for the Holiday’s giving campaign. Thank you to The Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors for sponsoring this project for 2018. And of course a thank you to all of the individuals, companies and groups who supported this project. Because of you, the youth in our shelter were able to receive gifts on the day of Christmas and many of them were able to arrange time spent with their families and enjoy the comforts of home. Additionally, young adults in who have recently aged out of the foster-care were able to receive gifts and gift-cards to make meeting their basic needs a little easier!

We are appreciative of the great deal of parents who actively made their children a part of their holiday philanthropy. Some teenagers toured the shelter with their parents, others picked out gifts to provide to youth in our shelter. We love to see families learning more about our services and helping the next generation understand the importance of giving back and what local nonprofits do. One young lady told her dad, “we need to do something for them every holiday!” how incredibly kind is that?!

The icing on the cake for us was when one of our long time and altruistic donors just popped in over the holiday and handed us a check he said, “what you guys do is beautiful. You change and save lives.” He talked about how he is a grandparent to a 14 and 16 year old and how he gives to make sure services like Foundation 2’s are there for his grandchildren in case they might need them.

We are so thankful to everyone who is a part of our Foundation 2 family. We could not do it without you! We are looking forward to doing more amazing things together in 2019!
