Hours: Full-time

 Overview of the role

Supervise FT youth specialists and back-up youth specialists; includes hiring, training, and evaluating. On-Boarding trainer for all staff to ensure consistent staff expectations. Ensure implementation/development of shelter program goals; includes role modeling, attendance, punctuality/appropriateness at meetings, using good judgment, problem solving skills, etc. Assist in development and implementation of shelter operational policies, procedures, and programming; includes staff scheduling/ratios, safety drills, bed checks, monitoring risks and precautions of clients. Provide direct client services; includes providing supervision, counseling and life skills services, on-call and back-up coverage, etc.

The schedule is: Wednesday 11a-8p, Thursday 11:30a-9:30p, Friday 8-9a (leadership meeting) & 11:30a-9:30p, Saturday 9a-7p. The position will be a part of our shelter leadership team and will be a part of the monthly rotating on-call schedule of 4-5 days per month. On-call days could require floor coverage and overtime opportunities.

What you’ll do

What you need

  • Associate degree and one (1) year of human service experience.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
  • Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
  • Live in Iowa.
  • Live within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with and compassion for at-risk youth preferred.
  • Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate emotional support to people in crisis preferred.
