Overview of the role

Access Center Crisis Counselors provide triage and intake services at the Linn County Access Center. You work as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide mental health and substance use services to walk in adult clients at the Access Center. The position covers four 10-hour overnight shifts per week, 10 pm to 8 am.

What you’ll do

  • Meet with clients at the Linn County Mental Health Access Center to provide support and crisis counseling.
  • Complete required assessments with clients.
  • Provide service coordination and assist in making referrals for services at the Linn County Mental Health Access Center.
  • Build rapport with clients to provide high-quality, individualized care.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team at the Linn County Mental Health Access Center.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure proper record keeping.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in human service field from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time experience working in social work or delivery of human services.
  • Experience working with adults experiencing crisis.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
  • Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
  • Experience in crisis counseling and suicide risk assessment preferred.
  • Experience in motivational interviewing preferred.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care preferred.
