Hours: Part-time (minimum 18 hours on-call per week, flexible)

Overview of the role

Mobile Crisis Counselors are often first responders for individuals and families experiencing a mental health emergency. You are responsible for providing services to individuals and families throughout Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott Counties. You work closely with law enforcement, hospital staff, and community providers to offer compassionate, client-centered counseling, stabilization, and connection to community resources.

Applicants must be willing to consistently sign up for a minimum of two six-hour shifts per week. Opportunities are available for all shifts on week days, weekends, evenings, and overnight hours.


  • Counselors earn:
    • $2.50/hour when on-call
    • $31.84/hour ($37.14/hour on holidays) per hour when dispatched for an in-person crisis counseling and completing paperwork
    • $11.39 per hour when attending meetings and trainings

What you’ll do

  • Provide on-site crisis intervention services to clients of all ages in Scott, Clinton, Muscatine, Jackson, and Cedar Counties within 60 minutes of dispatch.
  • Offer compassionate, objective, client centered counseling to individuals.
  • Assist individuals and families with connection to local resources and community providers.
  • Complete required documentation deadlines.
  • Complete required training within 6 months of hire.
  • Must reside in a community that allows you to arrive in East Davenport within 20 minutes.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field with two (2) years relevant experience OR master’s degree in human service-related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
  • Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
  • Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
  • Comfort using basic computer software.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills.
  • Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
  • Background in motivational interviewing preferred.
