Youth Shelter Program Manager

Foundation 2 Crisis Services is seeking a full-time Youth Shelter Program Manager to lead and oversee shelter operations, support our trauma-informed practices and ensure that our staff are well-equipment to provide a safe, collaborative and supportive environment for youth ages 11-17 and their families at the Foundation 2 Youth Shelter.

Overview: In this position, you will be responsible for the oversight and day-to-day operations of the youth shelter and the implementation of procedures and programming that are consistent with our client-centered philosophy. As the Program Manager, you are a leader within the organization and will mentor, support and guide staff within your program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and supervision of program staff, including role modeling and supervising staff on the philosophies of our program which focus on Trauma-Informed Care and Positive Youth Development
  • Providing direction and supervision to case management and counseling staff; promote cohesion of services across the program and ensure compliance with program expectations
  • Oversight and implementation of shelter policies, procedures and programming
  • Managing external relationships and partners, including funding partners such as the Department of Human Services
  • Quality assurance and audits to ensure compliance with all contracts, Iowa Code and funders
  • Ensure data collection and reports are completed in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Prepare for and participate in site visits conducted by partners, contract holders and funding partners
  • Collaborate closely with other Foundation 2 staff to ensure continuity of care and effective service delivery
  • Train and onboard staff on new systems and platforms to ensure a consistent experience across the team
  • Ensure facility maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner
  • Prepare, with case management team, monthly billing reports to be submitted to our accounting department
  • Assist with agency-wide activities, as needed
  • Oversee and participate in the shelter on-call rotation for referrals and crisis management, with the possibility of emergency shift coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with the ability to maintain a positive culture and a trauma-informed environment.

The Youth Shelter Program Manager is a full-time, salaried position with a salary range of $50,000 – $55,000 plus our generous benefit dollar package of $12,000 annually to put towards an a la carte benefit package. Funds not used for benefits will be added to your paycheck. Total compensation package for this role will be between $62,000 – $65,000 per year.  This position will accrue over 5 weeks of paid leave in the first year. Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human services related degree and 5 years full-time experience working in human services and/or social work, Master’s degree preferred
  • Two+ years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
  • The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by Foundation 2 and pass all applicable background checks 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of positive youth development
  • Experience with vulnerable and high-needs adolescents in a shelter or residential facility
  • Strong skills in data collection, demonstrating outcomes and reporting to funders
  • Previous experience implementing DHS contracts.
