Foundation 2’s Executive Director Emily Blomme recently spoke to CBS2 reporter Connor Morgan about a bill requiring Iowa educators to take at least one hour of training on suicide prevention and trauma-informed care.

“I think that teachers don’t feel well-equipped to deal with a lot of things they are forced to manage,” said Emily Blomme. “This is a baby step to giving them another tool that they feel like they can use.” This bill is a good starting place for schools.  “Addressing trauma-informed care and addressing suicide prevention even a little bit I think is going to help give the teachers a little bit more information and help them feel a little bit more comfortable,” said Blomme.
