If you anticipate aging out of the Iowa foster care system, you may qualify for support through our Fostering Futures program. You don’t have to navigate adulthood on your own.
I’m in foster care
We can help you start adulthood
The Fostering Futures program includes several programs for at-risk individuals in Eastern Iowa. Part of Fostering Futures is Iowa Aftercare, a statewide program for young people aging out of foster care. Services include case management, Fostering Futures in Education, Fostering Futures FORWARD and more. Services are provided in the Cedar Rapids area.
Services can begin at age 17.5 with Pre-Aftercare and last to age 23 with Extended Aftercare. Participants may enroll at any time.
This is a free, voluntary program.

We invite you to attend Fostering Futures FORWARD, a free community group that focuses on life skill development and community building in a supportive, fun environment. FORWARD is open to any young person ages 11-23 who has ever been in an out-of-home placement such as foster care or youth shelter.
Fostering Futures FORWARD meets twice a month at Foundation 2 Crisis Services in Downtown Cedar Rapids. It’s free to attend. A free meal is provided. Limited transportation is available upon request.
