Overview of the role
Ensuring daily tasks are completed, specifically providing routine, structure, school transports, and supervision for clients. Effectively build rapport with clients, and practice safe de-escalation skills up to, and at times including physical de-escalation skills. Ensuring clients receive care that is client centered, and trauma informed. Responsible for passing medication (Medication Manager training is available for candidates) Ability to provide detailed and non-biased documentation around client interactions and incident reports. Plan, lead and supervise groups and activities both on and off campus.

Thursday: 1:30-11:30pm
Friday: 1:30-11:30pm
Saturday: 1:30-11:30pm

What you’ll do
- Ensure that paperwork is complete including the following: intakes/discharges, DO’s, Referral Sheets, individual sessions, etc.
- Ensure that youth are being cared for in a Trauma Informed environment, using positive youth development.
- Ensure implementation of shelter goals; include role modeling, appropriate boundaries, ability to manage a group, assist with behavior management, etc.
- Assist in development and implementation of shelter operational policies, procedures and programming; supervision of youth, providing transport.
- Attendance and punctuality, appropriateness at meetings and around team members; using good judgment and problem-solving skills, etc.
What you need
- HS Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience in human services. Associate degree with 1 year of experience in human services. Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience in human services.
- Comfort using basic computer software.
- Basic typing and data entry skills.
- Excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
- Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
- Submit a copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
- Live in Iowa.
- Live within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Successfully complete the required trainings within the required time periods.
- Complete a physical exam prior to the beginning of employment and every three (3) years thereafter.
- Be free of communicable diseases as determined by a physician.
- Experience working with and compassion for at-risk youth preferred.
- Education or training in trauma-informed care is preferred.
- Knowledge/experience working in the mental health, substance use, and/or problem gambling field preferred.
