Overview of the role
Supervise FT youth specialists and back-up youth specialists; includes hiring, training, and evaluating. Provide direct client services; includes providing supervision, counseling and life skills services, on-call and back-up coverage, etc. Ensure implementation/development of shelter program goals; includes role modeling, attendance, punctuality/appropriateness at meetings, using good judgment, problem solving skills, etc. Assist in development and implementation of shelter operational policies, procedures, and programming; includes staff scheduling/ratios, safety drills, bed checks, monitoring risks and precautions of clients. Provide monthly on-call support and shift coverage as needed.
The schedule is:
Wednesday 12:00-10:00pm
Thursday 1:30-11:30pm
Friday 1:30-11:30pm
Saturday 1:30-11:30pm
This position will be part of our shelter leadership team and will be part of the monthly rotating on-call schedule of 4-5 days per month. On-call days could require floor coverage and overtime opportunities.

What you’ll do

What you need
- Associates degree and one (1) year of human service experience.
- And one (1) or more years relevant experience.
- Excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
- Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
- Submit copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
- Live in Iowa.
- Live within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be free of communicable diseases as determined by a physician.
- Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience working with and compassion for at-risk youth preferred.
- Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate emotional support to people in crisis preferred.
