Overview of the role
Co-respond with law enforcement to calls for service that involve mental health, substance use, and/or crises and other appropriate calls. Provide on-site crisis intervention services (intervention, referral, follow-up) to individuals in a mental health or behavioral health crisis at the request of the Jones County Sheriff and local police departments within Jones County. Act as a liaison between the Jones County Sheriff’s office and Foundation 2 with regards to crisis services delivery, data collection, and coordination of care. Remain in contact with individuals and treatment providers by phone and/or in person to monitor participation in recommended services.

Participate in local community meetings, events, and coalition meetings as requested. Complete required documentation and maintain client files in accordance with program rules and policies.
The work schedule is generally Monday – Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM, however may be adjusted depending on Department and community needs. There is a chance for overtime in the event of major incidents or at the request of the Department or F2.
A variation of hours across all law enforcement shifts is expected as a part of training during the initial 90-120 days.

What you need
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field required. And one (1) or more years’ relevant experience.
- Or bachelor’s degree in related field with two years’ relevant experience.
- Comfort using basic computer software.
- Basic typing and data entry skills.
- Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
- Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
- Submit copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
- Live in Iowa.
- Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in crisis services preferred.
- Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
- Experience in strengths-based practices preferred.
- Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate emotional support to people in crisis preferred.
- Knowledge/experience working in the mental health, substance use, and/or problem gambling field preferred.
- In addition to the background check completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services, the candidate will be required to complete fingerprinting with the Jones County Sheriff upon hire.
