Junior League of Cedar Rapids and Foundation 2 Crisis Services are partnering to serve young people aging out of foster care for our third annual Stuff the Truck fundraiser! Thank you to Van Meter and Alliant Energy, our Stuff the Truck sponsors.
Join us on Tuesday, Dec. 2 between 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Craft’d in Downtown Cedar Rapids to ‘stuff the truck’ with requested basic living supplies to support young people establishing independence after foster care. These items go to fill suitcases with NEW basic living items for these young people as they start adulthood on their own. Each suitcase is valued at approximately $700. We provide approximately 35 suitcases per year.
You can drop off items at Craft’d on Giving Tuesday; receive a free drink at Craft’d on Dec. 3, thanks to the Palmer Group. You can also drop items at our Headquarters location, 305 2nd Ave. SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids through Friday, Dec. 13. We’re open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Requested items include:
- Alarm clock
- All-purpose cleaner
- Bar soap
- Body wash
- Cookie sheet
- Cups (plastic preferred)
- 6 ft extension cords
- Dish strainer
- Sewing kit
- Shower liner
- Facial tissue
- Tool Kit
