We are honored to be the recipient of in-kind donations with The Gazette’s 2025 Festival of Trees! Your in-kind donation helps support our clients who are experiencing crisis, including youth in our emergency youth shelter.

The Festival of Trees will be held November 14-16 at Lindale Male in the old Yonkers Space. Event entry is free for ages 17 and young with an in-kind donation, collected at the door. Tickets are $5 for adults ages 18+.  Learn more here.

Our most-needed items are:

  1. Deodorant
  2. Full-sized shampoo & conditioner
  3. Feminine hygiene products

Your donation of our most-needed items helps our clients feel clean, confident and cared for during difficult times. We provide support approximately 100,000 times each year across Iowa, including many times in and around Cedar Rapids. All our services are provided to the community at no cost to clients.

In-kind donations like these can help youth at our Emergency Youth Shelter, and youth and adults in our community-based crisis support programs. Learn more about these services below.

Emergency Youth Shelter

Our Youth Shelter provides 24/7 housing for individuals ages 11-17 who are considered a runaway or homeless youth, or at risk of experiencing homelessness, or in an unsafe situation.

We provide all basic needs, including meals, transportation, individual and group counseling, and in-school services for those not enrolled in school in the Cedar Rapids area. Individuals typically stay at the Youth Shelter for a short time until a longer-term solution becomes available. This can include a safe friend or relative, foster care placement or other living situation.

We strive to provide a home-like environment with enrichment opportunities for youth staying at the shelter. This can include holiday meals and gifts, field trips and more. Especially during the holiday seasons, your support ensures we can meet these needs and provide additional opportunities for youth.

Our Holiday Giving Tree starts November 1 and includes the wish lists of youth staying in our shelter over the holidays. Tags are available on our Giving Tree located at our Headquarters location, 305 2nd Ave. SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids. The lobby is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Community-Based Programs

In addition to the Emergency Youth Shelter, we have a variety of programs that support individuals in crisis in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities.

Sometimes, our clients need support to meet their basic needs. By having hygiene products on hand, we are able to connect clients with what they need, immediately reducing one area of concern. Your donation brings comfort and dignity when it’s needed most.
