Overview of the role
Complete referral, intake, and admissions process for shelter residents. Provide case management service to meet the needs of clients and fulfill the requirements of the Runaway Homeless Youth Grant and also Child Welfare Emergency Services through the Department of Health and Human Services. Provide aftercare services to clients and families who have been discharged from shelter. Provide aftercare services to clients and families who have been discharged from shelter. Attend trainings in the Runaway Homeless Youth Program, Trauma Informed Care, and more as required by the position. Serve community coalitions regarding homelessness. Participate in on-call rotation to support shelter staff for crisis intervention, assessments and admissions.
Tuesday-Saturday 11AM-7PM. Nights and weekends occasionally required to meet the needs of the Youth Shelter Program and on-call requirements.

What you’ll do
- Complete referral, intake, and admissions process for shelter residents.
- Provide case management service to meet the needs of clients and fulfill the requirements of the Runaway Homeless Youth Grant and also Child Welfare Emergency Services through the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Provide aftercare services to clients and families who have been discharged from shelter.
- Complete thorough and detailed documentation for clients served in a timely manner.
- Manage youth crisis while offering ways to deescalate when clients are escalated.
- Participate in on-call rotation to support shelter staff for crisis intervention, assessments, and admissions.
What you need
- Bachelor’s degree in human services.
- And two (2) or more years’ relevant experience.
- Masters preferred. Case Manager experience required.
- Comfort using basic computer software.
- Excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
- Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
- Submit copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
- Live in Iowa.
- Live within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
- Experience in crisis services preferred.
- Experience of working with and compassion for at-risk youth preferred.
