Hours: Full time – 12 am – 8 am, Monday-Friday, occasional weekends

Overview of the role

This role will respond to dispatches within 60 minutes of service calls individuals and families throughout Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott counties. Complete required documentation and maintain client files in accordance with program policies and timelines.  MCO counselors offer compassionate, objective, client centered counseling and assist individuals and families with connection to local resources and community providers.  Counselors are expected to participate in regularly scheduled conferences, trainings, and team meetings.

Standard work hours are Monday – Friday, 12am–8am. The full-time counselor may be required to work one weekend day per month, as needed.

What you’ll do

  • Complete required documentation and maintain client files in accordance with program policies and timelines.
  • Offer compassionate, objective, client centered counseling and assist individuals and families with connection to local resources and community providers.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled conferences, trainings, and team meetings.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field required and one (1) or more years relevant experience or bachelor’s degree in related field with 30 hours of human services coursework.
  • High comfort with computers with ability to type quickly and multi-task.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
  • Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
  • Submit copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
  • Live within 45 miles of Davenport, IA.
  • Attend all MCO trainings within 120 days of hire (40 hours, including two (2) consecutive eight (8) hour days).
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
  • Experience in crisis services preferred.
  • Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate emotional support to people in crisis preferred.
  • Background in motivational interviewing preferred.
  • The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, project management experience, and fosters a positive work culture within a trauma informed setting.
